How About DIY Solar Power
The website with instructions for a DIY solar power generator says it is so simple a child could do it. Actually, with kids these days, maybe they could do it better! Anyway, the instuctions do not look that compex, and you may want to hop over to http://www.how2solar.tk/ for instructions and pictures.
You need to buy or make a solar panel (About $100 to buy). It should be rated at a minimum of 12 Volts, and 16 Volts is better.
You need a 12 volt battery. This is not a car battery because that is mostly used to crank a battery, but it is a lead/acid gel battery that is for continuous use. (About fifty bucks)
You should also get a battery box to set everything in. This keeps the curious aware from exposed wires and protects your setup.
Get a 12 Volt DC meter. They should cost $12 – $15 at an auto parts store. Some appliances are set up to already run off DC power.
If you want an AC power supply, to run appliances with a common house cord, you will need an inverter too. This can be found at auto parts stores or online for about fifty bucks.
That’s it! Then you just need to put it all together. The website we listed above as some simple instructions, or you can get detailed instructions on how to make solar power.
